Some of the most strenuous hikes in the BCS area are in this region and the highest peaks in the state are in this range. The trails can be accessed from several different ranches that border the mountain range - On the west side of the peninsula by Todos Santos as well on the east side of the mountain range by Santiago. Most of these trails require hiking permits from the ranch and guides are recommended for most of the hiking in this range.   • Todos Santos: This Pacific coast city is well-known for its stunning beaches and untamed surroundings. A short trek up a small mountain will bring you to the summit of the Cerro del Vigía trail, where you'll be rewarded with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. The round-trip distance of the trail is around 4 miles (6.5 km), and it takes 3 to 4 hours to finish.

  • San José del Cabo: Located at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, San José del Cabo is a beautiful town with many hiking trails to choose from. The San José Estuary Trail is a flat, easy trail that takes you through the mangroves and wetlands of the estuary, where you can spot a variety of birds and other wildlife. The trail is about 2 miles (3.2 km) round trip and takes about 1-2 hours to complete.
